Cered International Contemporary Symposium, a former pilot initiative, will be organized in 2017 for the twentysecond time, grew now to a professional international contemporary art event. In the small village of Northern Hungary a week-long international art colony is held to a special theme each year, determined by the curator of the year, and is usually related to the village. The participant artists from all over the world reflect the village in their artworks.
The works which are created in this week are on one hand an important snapshot of the contemporary visual arts, on the other hand this event – this countryside is economically one of the mostly backwarded region in Hungary, which is also lying on the depopulation – get the life of the village more sparkling again, thus ensures the hope of survival and rebirth.
Thirdly, Hungary be can represented in the international contemporary art scene as an important location.
Finally the artworks leave a very unique imprint of the contemporarian artworld of the XXI. century – A small village in Nograd immortalized for prosperity.
